what people are saying. Great job on The Board Match! This was our first time participating and it was really beneficial to our agency! The training was very thorough and helped us to improve our board development, too.

The Board Match

The Volunteer Center would like to thank you for another record-breaking The Board Match event!  The event featured 120 nonprofit organizations, and over 1,000 board candidates attended The Board Match to take the lead and give their time, talent and energy in one of the most meaningful ways anyone can – by joining a nonprofit board!

Nonprofits count on volunteers like you to lead them to success. The Board Match is an annual job-fair style event, which features over 100 Bay Area nonprofits whose leadership are on hand to talk to interested candidates about serving on their organization’s board of directors. A variety of organizations attend, from large to small, and focusing on everything from the environment to arts to youth.

Serving on a nonprofit board can provide fantastic opportunities for your personal and professional development. You can build new skills, network and broaden your knowledge of the community and provide essential skills to community nonprofits.

Nonprofits!
The Board Match 2010 was a great success, but there are still ways The Volunteer Center promotes and provides services related to board service outside of The Board Match as well, we:

  • Host a free searchable website where nonprofits can create an account (register), post volunteer opportunities and, in the Board Match Plus section of the site can post detailed information about their requirements and need for board members: http://www.thevolunteercenter2.net/agency/
  • Work with Bay Area companies to help match executive level staff to nonprofit boards that meet their interests.
  • We provide Board Service Information Sessions to the public and in a Lunch and Learn format for companies.
  • Provide a fee-based consulting practice through which we offer training for nonprofit leaders to learn how to recruit and retain new board members.

Please contact Jill Blackburn with any questions or concerns.
