The Volunteer Center's broad range of programs are designed to get people involved in the community. Here are some highlights of our services!
- The Volunteer Center partners with over 1,500 nonprofits in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties. On this site, you are able to search hundreds of local volunteer opportunities throughout the Bay Area - both ongoing opportunities and one-day volunteer events, appropriate for both individuals and groups. You can contact the organizations you are interested in working with directly through this site.
- When you register on our website, you not only help us know how to serve you better, but you can also opt in to receive email alerts about newly posted volunteer opportunities that meet the criteria in your saved profile. You can even save multiple profiles for different kinds of volunteer jobs you are interested in. You can also sign up to receive our quarterly electronic newsletter and other occasional updates.
- Our Resource Room in San Francisco is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00am- 4:30pm, offering personalized volunteer matching service and the opportunity to look through hundreds of volunteer listings featured in our binders. We also offer office hours in San Mateo County. Please contact us for more details.
- People with psychiatric disabilities in San Francisco can utilize our Transitional Volunteer Program to receive counseling and volunteer placement at hundreds of nonprofit organizations.
- Corporate groups can choose among a variety of service opportunities offered through the Corporate Volunteer Council and our Corporate Services Program.
- Educators, parents and youth themselves benefit from The Volunteer Center's free monthly electronic newsletter listing of youth volunteer opportunities, Youth Pulse.
- If you are interested in serving on a nonprofit board, our Board Match Plus program can help you learn about this unique type of volunteering and find the board that's right for you.
- Our Emergency Response program is poised to mobilize and deploy volunteers to where they are most needed in the event of a disaster.
