Information for Adult Volunteers

Volunteers are referred to the Transitional Volunteer Program (TVP) from agencies serving people with psychiatric, physical, and cognitive disabilities who would benefit from the support TVP offers.

How it works:

  • Counselor and client fill out and send a referral form to our program
  • Client attends program orientation: Orientations are scheduled every Tuesday from 11:00am-12:00pm (except holidays) at 1675 California Street (at Van Ness Avenue)
  • Client meets one-on-one with a TVP counselor to explore volunteer opportunities that meet their skills and interests
  • TVP counselor will arrange interviews with potential volunteer managers
  • Placements normally occur within three weeks

TVP volunteers have the opportunity to:

  • Provide necessary services to nonprofit agencies and the clients they serve
  • Identify and use their skills and talents
  • Set and achieve personal and professional goals
  • Develop marketable skills and self-esteem

TVP serves volunteers by providing:

  • Assessment
  • Personalized volunteer placements
  • Support throughout the entire volunteer placement

TVP can help you find the volunteer placement that is right for you.
