Service Learning Links

Here are some of our favorite Internet resources on service learning. If you know of any that we should add, send us an email at csp@thevolunteercenter.net.

The Breakthrough Collaborative, formerly Summerbridge National - The Breakthrough Collaborative places high school and undergraduate college students in summer teaching internships in 27 US cities and Hong Kong. Interns help middle school students prepare for college prep high school coursework while gaining hands-on teaching and leadership experience.

CHALK - CHALK; Communities in Harmony Advocating for Learning and Kids site provides information about Youthline (a 24-hour peer counseling hotline), lists upcoming events, and posts job and volunteer opportunities with CHALK.

COOL - COOL is the Campus Outreach Opportunity League, a national nonprofit organization that helps college students start, expand, and develop community service programs.

Learn and Serve America - This organization supports educators and community members who involve students in service learning.

National Service Resource Center - The National Service Resource Center provides training and technical assistance to AmeriCorps programs. Their website has a resource directory of organizations that offer training as well as subscription information for NSRC's AmeriCorps discussion group.

National Service Learning Clearinghouse - NSLC supports the service-learning community in higher education, kindergarten through grade twelve, community-based initiatives and tribal programs, as well as all others interested in strengthening schools and communities using service-learning techniques and methodologies.

The Points of Light Foundation - The Points of Light Foundation publishes a variety of resources on service learning, including A Practical Guide to Developing Agency/School Partnerships for Service Learning, which focuses on building community capacity for service learning.

The International Partnership for Service Learning - This organization has designed and implemented international/intercultural service learning projects since 1982.

US Department of Education - In addition to the information about the Department itself, the DOE's home page has links to lots of other websites and educational resources.

Youth Service California - Youth Service California's site provides information on their many efforts to support youth service. To facilitate contact with elected representatives, this site also provides links to state and federal legislators.
